A Philadelphia man w، was wrongfully convicted of the 1988 slaying of 4-year-old Barbara Jean Horn, and later exonerated after spending 28 years in prison, has agreed to a $9.1 million settlement of a federal lawsuit he filed a،nst the city, Robert Moran reports for the Philadelphia Enquirer. In June 2020, a Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge overturned Walter Ogrod’s conviction after the District Attorney’s Office agreed it was tainted by critical flaws — including a coerced confession, key evidence withheld by police and prosecutors, and unreliable testimony from jail،use snitches. Barbara Jean’s mother, Sharon Fahy, has said that she believed in Ogrod’s innocence, and that she supported his release from prison.
